:: Network Security

File and Folder permissions, Policies, Firewalls, Protocol and Port Filtering

Everyone has seen the headlines - viruses are bring down corporate file systems, security holes are exposing personal e-mail messages, electronic crime is costing companies $10 billion per year. Nearly everyday, a new story on information security (InfoSec) and the vulnerability of IT systems is written or broadcast, raising the level of concern of businesses, consumerss, and government. If there is one thing that we all have from the Y2K bug, it is that computers and technology pose threats to our economic health. In light of this, ITAA believes that the next major technology issue of the 21st century will be protecting the information infrastuture of the New Economy.

ITAA Contact: Douglas Sabo - dsabo@itaa.org

“Many companies view security as having the right technology solution. They implement a firewall and client level anti-virus solution … and poof! They believe they have a complete security solution. The problem with this narrow view of security is that security technology alone cannot eliminate all exposures; people and business processes play a vital role in security. In fact, according to many security experts, security is only 20% technology – the remaining 80% involves process and procedure.”

(Why does a Business Need Security?, WorldCom, Network Computing)

SECURITY IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION. In order to maintain a secure environment, you must continually evaluate your weaknesses and identify the right cost-effective countermeasures.

Our Security Team will assist you in minimizing your systems and networks vulnerabilities by:

  • Assessing your security environment and determining the effectiveness of
    current security in place
  • Evaluating all network aspects from the foundation of the operating systems
such as permission, group policies and services to the proper location and
configuration of your firewalls and routers
  • Checking the software versions and they service packs, patches/fixes that may not be installed
  • Providing you the information you need to verify or improve security

Our Security Analysis report will contain:

  • Host information - attackers frequently rely on information a computer gives away about itself in order to mount an attack. What can an attacker tell about my computer?
  • Services running - What services is my computer running, and are any of them unnecessary?
  • Ports open - What ports are open, and are any of them unnecessary or can be changed to use another port?
  • Known vulnerabilities
  • Service Packs, patches/fixes available and not installed
  • Recommendations on how to minimize the vulnerabilities
  • Recommendations for ongoing security

Capabilities
Different networks need different kind of security. This is why we have established alliances that help us meet our clients needs. In addition a combination of different manufactures appliances makes it even more difficult for hackers to break into a network.

Our Lab
GlobalStrata has a Lab were clients can see and play with many of hardware that we resell before making a decision that may not meet their needs. In addition, here is where GlobalStrata Solution test client configuration in order to try to minimize problems that may occur when new installations are performed.
